Finally in the WIn Column

After a nice effort by Ivan Nova and a few runs scored when they needed them, the Yankees escape this one with a win. Nova went seven strong innings, giving up 10 hits while walking none. That is the Nova from 2011, erasing any questions that people had about him going through the sophomore slump.

Derek Jeter had a nice 4-4 day with a double and an RBI. Cano and Rodriguez both grounded into inning ending double plays with the bases loaded. Andruw Jones hit his first home run of 2012, a laser off of a righty.

David Robertson got two quick outs in the eighth inning, but ultimately escaped a jam and had two strikeouts in the inning. Although it wasn't a save situation, Mariano Rivera closed the game out with a scoreless ninth. Tomorrow, Freddy Garcia faces off against newly acquired Japanese starter Wei-Yin Chen.
