CC Sabathia and Derek Jeter led the Yankees to their tenth straight win tonight. CC Sabathia went the distance allowing only two runs and struck out ten batters. Sabathia did not have his best stuff through the first several innings. However, in the bottom of the fifth the Yankee offense woke up against Minor and scored three runs for CC. Russell Martin was swinging on a 3-0 count and doubled into left field to score Alex Rodriguez. Minor loaded the bases and Derek Jeter came up to single the tying and go-ahead runs. The Yankee offense went 3-7 with runners in scoring position tonight and everybody contributed. After the fifth inning runs, Mark Teixeira and Robinson Cano both hit solo blasts to pad Sabathia's lead. The offense was able to tame Mike Minor after getting no-hit through four innings. They scored two more runs off of relievers and managed to win their tenth straight game! CC Sabathia gave the bullpen the night off so they will be ready to work tomorrow with a day's rest behind them.
Tomorrow, Hiroki Kuroda will go for his fourth straight win and the Yankees eleventh straight victory as he opposes veteran Tim Hudson. The Yankees are rolling so there's no telling when this streak will end. The Bombers are playing their best baseball of the year by and far, quieting all the nay-sayers from earlier in the season.
