2/2

2-2, the record that the Yankees hope to have in Kansas City before they leave town. They have played two awful offensive games this series. The Yankees are now 1-4 in their last five games against Baltimore and Kansas City. These are two teams that the Yankees need to beat if they want to make it to the playoffs this year. They stand at 14-13 on the season. 1 game over .500. They are in fourth place in the AL East behind Baltimore, Tampa Bay and Toronto. They have lost 2 out of 3 games to the Royals, who had not won a home game in 10 tries before the Bombers came into town.

Something is missing from the team. There is no spark for the Yankees this season. Cano is not hitting and Mariano is out for the season. This doesn't seem like a team that has any motivation right now. The team needs a shakeup. They need to do something drastic to send a message to the players who aren't doing well early in the season. For the New York Yankees, 14-13 doesn't cut it when you're 27 games into the season and have the largest payroll in baseball. I fully expect the Yankees to make the playoffs this year, but it will be that much more difficult if they are playing marginally good baseball. The Red Sox of 2011 can tell you, every game counts. I just hope that the Yankees don't take a similar route this summer.
